Northeastern travel is severely disrupted by a winter storm in the US.
On Tuesday, thousands of students in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York were forced to switch to online learning as a substitute for traditional classroom instruction.
Approximately 2,700 US flights were delayed and about 1,200 US flights were canceled, primarily in New York and Boston.
According to police, the storm caused one snowmobiler to pass away in Pennsylvania.
The Newberry Township Police Department reported that a 20-year-old man lost his life when his snowmobile struck a fallen wire.
From eastern Pennsylvania to Massachusetts, snow started falling quickly in the early morning hours of Tuesday, putting nearly 50 million people under winter weather alerts.
A few places experienced the highest snowfall in years, with 15.5 inches (39 cm) falling in Farmington, Connecticut.
The On Tuesday morning local time, a blizzard caused 150,000 residents in Pennsylvania to lose power.
Travel was hazardous due to the conditions, and both Boston and New York City experienced minor auto accidents.

Officials advised locals to stay away from travel whenever possible, and some areas banned commercial vehicles from operating on the roads.
New York City students were forced to transition to remote learning, which was beset by technical issues that hindered the 900,000 students in the district from accessing the system.
Later in the day, Mayor Eric Adams defended the choice, saying that students could not afford to miss any more school days because they had fallen behind during the pandemic.
Chancellor of New York City’s public schools, David Banks, attributed the problems to IBM, a company that makes software for online learning log-ins.
“This was an examination.
At a press conference, Mr. Banks stated, “I don’t think that we passed this test,” and he expressed his disappointment, frustration, and anger.
IBM expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to families and informed US media that the issues had been “largely resolved”.
With the storm on Tuesday, New York City’s 744-day relative snow drought came to an end. The city hadn’t seen more than 2.5 inches of snow in more than two years.
It was the snowiest day in New York since January 2022, with about 3.2 inches of snow falling in Central Park.
Snowfall, which was once frequent during the winter months in New York, has decreased recently.
Some locals were motivated by the weather to embrace the cold and visit the city’s parks.
Retired city planner Bryan Sullivan said the BBC that he has spent the last 50 years, including this Tuesday, skiing in Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
He claimed that he can ski in the park for seven to ten days every year, but in the last few years, that hasn’t been the case.
“Winter is drawing to an end. The heatwave persists longer.
Despite the snow, there are things that are blooming now that shouldn’t be until late March, the man stated.
The storm moved eastward from New York toward Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southern Massachusetts on Tuesday afternoon.
A foot of snow was reportedly dumped on some parts of Pennsylvania.
Poweroutages.us reports that as of Tuesday night, over 50,000 customers in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts were still without electricity.
Along with strong winds and a lot of snow, impact Nova Scotia, Canada, starting this afternoon and lasting until Wednesday morning.
Up to 10 inches of snow are predicted in some areas.
