A Black Bear :1 Assaults Young Camper Now
A black bear assaults a young camper in a tent in Montana.
According to officials, the bear was shot and killed the next day.
In Montana, on Sunday night, a black bear attacked and hurt a toddler, according to authorities.
The infant was brought to a medical facility in Billings, said a news statement from the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.
The child had been inside a tent on a private campground close to Red Lodge.
Officials told the Associated Press that the casualty was a 3-year-old girl, but they did not identify the youngster or reveal their present state of health.
Following the attack, officials reported that the bear was shot and killed the following day and that the campground was evacuated.
Authorities reported that “unsecured attractants,” such as food and trash, were discovered next to the tent where the assault took place.

“Having no history of conflicts,” the black bear that attacked the child “had likely become food-conditioned and human-habituated after accessing unsecured attractants in the area,” according to officials.
Montana is “bear country,” officials advised the public, and campers should take safety measures to prevent running into bears.
It was advised that food be kept outside of tents, trash be disposed of in “bear resistant bins,” and food and other scented items be stored safely.
The news release said, “People should be prepared to encounter black or grizzly bears in Montana.” “Avoiding conflicts with bears is easier than dealing with conflicts.”
