Earthquake : Magnitude 4.4 Strikes Now County
An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 strikes LA County, causing buildings and people in Southern California to tremble.
On Monday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 rocked a densely populated area of Los Angeles County, causing buildings to tremble and causing anxiety among the local population.
According to a U.S. Geological Survey map, there were reports of minor damage and shaking, but no significant injuries or damage.
The shaking was felt from San Diego County to Simi Valley and out to Victorville and Redlands.
Those who were nearest to the earthquake posted videos of a powerful jolt and shaking that drove terrified dogs running.
According to Highland Park resident Kyle Shearer, “It was very, very scary.”
“It’s not my first but it’s probably the scariest I’ve had in a long time.”
The earthquake occurred at a depth of around six miles at 12:20 p.m. Highland Park was the location of the epicenter.
Shortly after, the initial magnitude of the earthquake—4.7—was lowered.
Professor Christine Chandler of Glendale’s Martha Fuerst School of Nursing described it as “a jolt.”
“And then there was a sudden, strong shaking of the structure.
It wasn’t one of our lovely, rolly ones. I was forced to grip the door jamb.”
To look for damage, especially to infrastructure, the L.A. county and municipal fire departments turned on earthquake mode.

At 1:15 p.m., the Los Angeles city fire ended in earthquake mode without causing any damage.
Only a few miles from the epicenter, in Pasadena, some minor damage was observed.
A hose burst near Pasadena City Hall, releasing a jet of water onto the pavement.
The building’s 200 or more employees were evacuated.
Anthony James, deputy chief of the Pasadena Fire Department, stated that a sprinkler head at the top of the city hall rotunda broke, causing the water spill.
Eventually, the firefighters managed to turn off the pipeline.
Additionally, one individual was momentarily stranded in the building’s elevator.
The person was swiftly let free by firefighters.
While investigating a complaint of a damaged gas line, firefighters had not yet determined if the incident was connected to the earthquake.
James reported feeling the intense shock.
James added, “I just happened to be out driving.”
“I had a bus right next to my car.
It seemed as though the entire The earth was lifting out from beneath me.
What was that, I wondered? and worked it out fast.”
He claimed that the department entered earthquake mode very fast.
This required dispatching firefighters to inspect the community for any damage.
No further significant problems were discovered.
Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist, gave details about the faults in the region where the earthquake occurred.
It is not visible from the surface since this region contains a network of underground faults.
The Whittier Narrows earthquake in 1987 was caused by the same network, but it’s impossible to determine for sure if they are related because of how intricate and deep-rooted the problem is, according to Jones.
