Palestinians in Rafah Talk About Their “Horrific Night” During the Israeli Rescue of the Hostages
According to the Gaza health ministry, Israeli strikes in Rafah overnight resulted in at least 67 deaths, with more deaths expected.
According to the Gazan Health Ministry, Israeli strikes in Rafah early on Monday left dozens dead and injured while also underscoring the price of Israel’s military operation to free its hostages.
Palestinians in the area described a terrifying night.
“I swear to God it was an indescribable night,” said 37-year-old Ghada al-Kurd, one of the millions of people taking refuge in the southern part of Gaza City.
“We were convinced that the Israeli army was invading Rafah because there was bombing everywhere.”

The director of Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, Dr. Marwan al-Hamase, reported that the hospital had received 100 injured patients over the course of the previous night in addition to the bodies of 52 fatalities.
The Kuwait Hospital in Rafah has admitted at least 15 bodies and 50 wounded patients, according to spokesman Maher Abu Arar. Mr. Abu Arar remarked, “There were many body parts,” after “successful and unexpected” Israeli attacks.
People in Rafah were reportedly in a panic and thinking about leaving during the night, but “no one knew where to even go,” according to Ms. al-Kurd.

Men, women, and children all experienced panic as a result of the explosions, according to Mr. al-Satri. Everyone packed up their belongings out of fear that Rafah’s ground invasion was imminent.
