As it moves from the Southwest to the Northeast through midweek, the extraordinarily potent storm is bringing with it almost every winter weather hazard imaginable, including severe winds, potential tornadoes, significant flooding, snowfall, and blizzard conditions.
Travel problems are already being left in its wake by the system.
Several sections of I-40 were closed on Sunday as the storm moved through the Four Corners area due to hazardous driving conditions and weather-related crashes in Arizona.

Early on Monday, snow was still falling in the Four Corners, where the storm’s center remained. Throughout the morning, the system will intensify as it approaches the Southern Plains, where severe blizzard and whiteout conditions are predicted in certain places.
The storm’s effects will also be felt in the Southeast and Gulf Coast starting on Monday afternoon and continuing into Tuesday.

In these areas, about 70 million people are at risk of experiencing severe weather, including tornadoes, strong winds, and flooding rain.
A few tornadoes are probably going to be produced as the storm moves through Monday afternoon and into the night, affecting cities like Gulfport, Mississippi, Mobile, Alabama, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
In just 72 hours, the swift system will travel over 1,800 miles and produce significant snowfall throughout more than six states.
Following another strong storm that brought more than a foot of snow to the Northeast over the weekend, along with rain, snow, ice, and a tornado, which carved a path from the Gulf Coast to Maine, comes the winter weather.
