According to a service spokesperson on Sunday, tornadoes and other severe weather devastated the area over the weekend, forcing about 250 Army families at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to relocate.
The tornadoes that made landfall on Saturday left thousands of Tennesseans without a place to live, leveled entire neighborhoods, and destroyed the electrical grid.
In Clarksville, the town outside the base, where a 150 mph tornado made landfall, the damage was particularly bad.
There were no recorded fatalities among Fort Campbell employees or their families as of Monday morning.
It was initially unclear whether the injured civilian was a civilian employee of a family member or just one of the base’s employees.

According to a spokesperson, about 1,100 Fort Campbell soldiers and their families were without essential utilities like heat, electricity, or water, and it might take up to a week for those to be restored.
Located near the Tennessee-Kentucky border, the base is home to the 5th Special Forces Group, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, and the 101st Airborne Division.

The commander of Fort Campbell garrison, Col Chris Mayberry, told Military com in a statement.,

“Our community has been hard hit by tragedy this year and it is humbling to see our community come together again and again despite it all.
” Being a part of this community is an honor, and we thank we appreciate your support and promise to keep it coming.”
Only mission-essential personnel were instructed to report to work at the installation on Monday due to the local area’s damage and displacement.
According to local officials, at least 271 homes and other buildings in Clarksville sustained damage that rendered them uninhabitable, and over 400 other homes also suffered damage.

Tornadoes that made landfall in Clarksville and surrounding counties near Nashville, approximately 40 miles south, on Saturday claimed the lives of six people. While rescue workers work through the rubble this week, the number of fatalities may increase.
The Tennessean reported that up to 13 tornadoes were reported in the area. About 18,000 houses and commercial buildings in the Fort Campbell area had As of Monday morning, there was no electricity, according to the power outage tracking database PowerOutage.us.
There was no evidently serious damage to Fort Campbell. Officials were still determining the extent of the tornado’s damage, but all of the important buildings, including the hospital, had power.
For soldiers and their families impacted by the tornadoes, the YMCA on base provided clothing, diapers, toiletries, and other necessities.

“I hope all those soldiers are safe after the tornado hit Clarksville,” Army Emergency Relief Fund (AER) director Michael Grins ton posted on LinkedIn.
“Remember, if soldiers need help, reach out to AER.” Loans and grants are available to soldiers without interest through the Army Emergency Relief Fund. Grins ton was the Army’s previous sergeant major.
Uncertainty surrounds whether local National Guard to respond to the damage in Clarksville and the surrounding towns, units will be sent out. A request for comment from a Tennessee National Guard spokesperson was not answered.
