The Department of Justice declared on Thursday that a man from New Hampshire had been charged with threatening to kill three candidates for president in 2024.

In summary, the campaign of Republican contender Chris Christie expressed gratitude to law enforcement on Thursday for the apprehension of Tyler Anderson, 30, who was earlier accused of sending death threats to Republican contender Vivek Ramaswamy through text message.

Driving the news: According to a DOJ statement released on Thursday, which omitted the candidates’ names, Anderson, of Dover, New Hampshire, was indicted by a grand jury on three counts of transmitting a threat to injure the person of another in interstate commerce.

But Ramaswamy and Christie’s campaigns have verified that they were targets.

Specifics: Anderson was taken into custody on December 9 is charged with allegedly threatening to “impale” and “disembowel” one of the three presidential campaigns in “a series of threatening text messages” that were sent on November 22.

On December 6, prosecutors claim he sent a flurry of threats to a second candidate, threatening to “blow” their “head off” and carry out a “mass shooting.”

On December 8, text messages containing threats to “blow” their “brains out” and “kill everyone” who would attend a campaign event were received by a third candidate. The campaign of Ramaswamy verified last week that these messages were directed towards them.

Anderson, who was released on conditions on December 14 after making her initial court appearance in federal court on December 11, could spend up to five years in prison for each of the charges if he’s found guilty.
