According to county firefighter Andy VanSciver, about 20 residents of the Hueneme Bay community were brought to an emergency shelter early on Thursday morning.

A MedCat, a type of tactical rescue vehicle, was used to save seven of them. Ten more animals were brought into the MedCat, including dogs, cats, and a bird.

“Very quickly, we had a tremendous amount of rain, and it overflowed our drainage infrastructure,” Vega stated. “There was significant flooding in certain parts of the city, especially in the Hueneme Bay area.”
