With the assistance of a YouTuber, human remains were discovered on Sunday in relation to a 2013 missing person’s case, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri reported.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release that while using his drone to film a private pond, James Hinkle, a local videographer and owner of the YouTube channel Echo Divers, noticed a submerged car.
Hinkle was looking for information regarding the December 2013 disappearance of Donnie Erwin, a 59-year-old man from Camdenton, Missouri.

“When I discovered that Donnie was a veteran and that his home was located in Clinton, Missouri, an hour and a half away, under the direction of a scuba diving search and rescue team, Hinkle told CNN via Facebook, “I knew I could help with the search.”
The sheriff’s office stated in a news release dated December 16 that divers had verified the car’s license plate number matched Donnie Erwin’s, but they had not been able to locate any remains.

The cadaver dogs that the authorities brought in over the weekend before Christmas warned detectives about a particular section of the pond.
The Camden County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday, divers found human remains and “an artificial hip consistent with the one Mr. Erwin had.”

Investigators are certain that the hip and remains belong to Mr. Erwin, even though a forensic pathologist will need to examine the remains to be certain.
