The co-host of “Good Morning Britain” is reportedly “keeping vigil” at her husband’s bedside after suffering a “massive heart attack.”

Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins, hosts of Good Morning Britain, have sent Kate Garraway a heartfelt message of support while her husband, Derek Draper, “fights for his life” in the hospital.

The broadcaster’s husband is gravely ill and is currently at her bedside; he had a heart attack while coping with the devastation caused by Covid.

The hosts opened Monday’s broadcast (18 December) with a note to their coworker.

Hawkins said, “We wanted to start with an update.” “As you can see, Kate’s husband Derek is currently in a very bad situation.

“We wish to allow Derek to Kate and her family are aware that we are sending them our warmest regards and that we are thinking of them.

Hawkins responded, “Very difficult,” to Madeley’s additional statement, “It is a very difficult time.” Many thanks.

The former political lobbyist husband of the co-host of Good Morning Britain, who contracted Covid in March 2020 and spent a lengthy period in the hospital in a medically induced coma, has required care in recent years.

He has since needed 24-hour care from 56-year-old Garraway and a group of medical specialists.

A recent report by The Sun claims that Garraway has quit her work as a TV and radio host, and that Draper, 56, is “fighting for his life” after suffering a heart attack.

Kate and her family are aware that we are sending them our warmest regards and that we are thinking of them.

Hawkins responded, “Very difficult,” to Madeley’s additional statement, “It is a very difficult time.” For the foreseeable future, lots of love.

The publication was informed by a source that “everyone is praying for a miracle.”

“Derek is fighting for his life once more after suffering a severe heart attack earlier this week.

He had been doing so well, was in such a good mood, and was looking forward to spending Christmas at home with the family, so it was unexpected and shocking.

“His family and everyone providing care for him have suffered a great loss as a result of this setback.”

According to the source, Garraway is “by his side” 24 hours a day” and is encouraging him to overcome this most recent health setback.

The source went on, “Derek has fought so many times and always, against all odds, come out the other side.”

“Kate has been absolutely amazing; she has stood by his side, managing Darcey and Billy’s expectations of a family Christmas, and being an amazing mother to them.”

Since their 2005 wedding, Garraway and Draper have been parents to two children: a 14-year-old son named William (or “Billy”) and a 17-year-old daughter named Darcey.

During an appearance on Loose Women last month, Garraway revealed that Draper had been readmitted to the hospital.

“He’s actually back in the hospital right now; fortunately, I haven’t discussed this or the terrible drama that has occurred because there have on the ITV panel program, she stated that there had “been lots of referrals and cancellations” and that it was for “something that began last year that he needed the second part of.”

“Well, it’s a good hospital thing, and hopefully it won’t stay there for too long.”

The host has talked extensively about the emotional toll that Draper’s illness takes on both of them as well as the challenges in managing his health. Draper can’t move at all and needs two people to hold him up five times a day in order for him to be able to carry any weight.

She said in September to The Sunday Times, “The truth is he’s terribly, terribly depressed.”

She went on, “I believe that illness is self-centered.” It is self-serving in that it deprives you of empathy. He does understand extremely sensitive to the stress this has caused me.

However, a person’s brain is unable to prioritize anything or anyone else when their body is malfunctioning.
